Kashima
Class Japanese Battleships. Photographs and history of the Kashima
Class battleships of the early twentieth century.
These were the last Japanese
battleships built by foreign shipyards. Kashima built at Armstrong's and
Katori built by Vickers. These were ordered just before the Russo Japanese
conflict. They were also the last Japanese Battleships built with a
ram bow. They lasted until April 1922 when they were disarmed.
Kashima was scrapped at Nagosaki and Katori was scrapped at
Maizuru.
Displacement: 16,400 tons and 17,200
tons full load. Crew 864 Speed: 18.5 knots Range: 10,000
nm at 10 knots. Armament: Four 12 inch guns, Four 10 -inch
Guns, Twelve 6 inch guns, Fourteen 3.1 inch guns, Two
3.1 inch guns and Five 18-inch Torpedo Tubes submerged.
