HMS Rupert, May, 1897

The anchor of HMS Rupert is being taken on board with the backdrop of Valetta Harbour, Malta. Rupert was a single turreted battleship which served as a portguard ship at Alexandria. The photograph was taken just after her refit at the harbour c.1900. A temporary derrick had to be put up to swing the anchor up to the Rupert's deck before the ship's derrick could take over and stow the anchor properly.

Everything we obtain for this site is shown on the site, we do not have any more photos, crew lists or further information on any of the ships.
