Formidable Class battleships of the Royal Navy, HMS Formidable, HMS Irresistible and HMS Implacable. Launched during 1898 and 1899, both HMS Formidable and HMS Irresistible were lost during 1915 during world war one.

Armament: four 12inch guns, twelve 6 inch guns, sixteen 12 pdr guns, two 12 pdr guns, six 3 pdr guns, 2 maxims and four torpedo tubes.   

Displacement: 15,000 tons.   Speed: 18 knots.   

Complement: 780 (flagship 810).

Published in 1901 by George Newnes Ltd, this is an original book plate from a large format naval book. These may have some text from the book on the rear of the book plate, but this does not detract from the framed image. Only a few of these original book plates are still available today, more than a century after they were first published.
