25-07-1940 - Damaged by Ju88 off Dover. S/Ldr MacDonnell ok.
12-07-1939 - Spitfire L1055 was built to contract 527113/36 by Vickers Armstrong's (Supermarine) Ltd at Woolston and it was first test flown on 12th July 1939. It was delivered to 9 MU at Cosford on 17th July 1939 and then issued to 66 Squadron at Duxford on 22nd September 1939 before being transferred to 616 Squadron at Leconfield on 15th November 1939. Following the unidentified incident at Leconfield on 6th April 1940 it was sent to AST Ltd. at Hamble for repair. On completion of the repairs it was issued to 64 Squadron at Kenley on 2nd July 1940. On 25th July 1940 it was damaged by a Ju88 off Dover. On 29th July 1940 it was inspected by 49 MU at Henlow and dismantled for transport for repair. On 1st August 1940 it was delivered by road to AST Ltd. at Hamble again. On 1st October 1940 repairs were complete and it was delivered to 9 MU at Cosford. On 9th October 1940 it was issued to 1 PRU at Benson. On 5th March 1941 the aircraft took off at Mount Farm in coarse pitch, it failed to become airborne and the pilot swung the aircraft to avoid workmen and crashed. It was seriously damaged and was struck off charge on 10th March 1941.

16-08-1940 - Shot down by Me109 at Waldron. Squadron Leader MacDonnell parachuted to safety.
