Staff Sergeant Lewis E Herron As a Tail Gunner with the 350th Bomb Squadron Lewis served on B-17 Heaven Sent. On 24th August 1944 he flew his first raid to Rhuland, Germany, and went on to complete a total of 33 missions over Europe. He was awarded the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters and the French Legion of Honor.
