Is this the Best 1/72 Static Model Warship

Posts 1 to 12

I guess the title says it all and at sixteen foot long I guess it can be called big. Has anyone seen anything that compares? I have seen smaller models that are actually crewed by a human being :)

That is one model to treasure! Jack.

The man is obviously divorced, and now looking for the next candidate to dust it! Brilliant model, but I have seen one of the WW2 Enterprise which I think might be better, I think it is smaller than 1/72 scale, I think it is in one of the big museums in the States. Jim

This model has received recognition and awards all over the place, and is certainly in the top five overall and the best I've ever seen personally. It exceeds in detail and quality some of the models in the Navy Historical Center's collection in Washington DC, and they are "builder's models" and such of the highest quality. Thanks for posting the link--looking at the photos brought back many memories of my days on the flight deck.

I have seen some amazing models of galleons that have also been scratch built with the builder even carving the moulds for all the fancy woodwork etc. They were also made by an American who I believe built this model as the mould for the future kits. He cut out every single piece of wood, shaped and then sanded it. (Chuck) That picture does not do the model credit and he is indeed a master modeller This model of the Enterprise though gets my vote purely because of not just the size but much more important, the detail that has to work alongside this huge vessel..

Amazing model the detail is spectacular as someone said he must be divorced ....

Hi All, As a modeller that has been working on a model of HMS ENDEAVOUR, I would be interested to see the model you are all discussing. Is there a web site to go to? Cheers, Ed

What patience!!!...as Don has said 'builders models' don't compare...The man has an obvious problem in childhood of having a distinct lack of toys to play with!!....Brian...

I wonder just how much it cost. Cheers, Ed

Its certainly a beauty. I read of one similar a couple of years ago which the modeller had to get rid of because he was old and needed to go into a home, don't know what scale it was though, I think a museum in the USA finally took it in. Bry
