Dockyard Type Model

Posts 1 to 5

Here are the pics of my unfinnished attempt at an 18th Centuary builders dockyard model, it's a bit tatty and the Stem / Beakhead is broken off, I had to use the brush to clear out spiders and cobwebs etc I started it about 12 years ago but it fell by the way side for other things, mostly paintings Jim

Know the feeling Jim ..... started a four foot 1/96 scale RC Model of the Royal Yacht 13 years ago and it is still on the shelf with only the hull nearly complete. It sits beneath my "Round Tuit" plate - surrounded by 10 completed models that have been built in that period. Dave H

Love the hull Jim lad.:D:D Air conditioned, but because it is pure living wood, perhaps it would still float.;):D In your defence (and you can quote me), the timbers and frames need to be 'seasoned' for a while (perhaps 12 years?) prior to launch.;):D Great to see it, and there's still plenty of time to complete. Well done. Sandy.

I got really 'into' these type of models for a while, there are various types of framing, the real ones are really miniature shipwrighting, with each frame made up of several grown pieces of timber, using the proper type of joint, way too skilled for me! I just used the one piece each side. Jim

Don't down yerself Jim, you have other skills that we all enjoy. Some of my efforts only resemble ships cos' they float. But then so does a log.:D Dave H
