Lantern ID

Posts 1 to 3

Hello; Any help with info on this lantern would be great. The little plate on the bottom says Franz Schilbach Stettin. The handle is hand forged, Inside of the door there is small swastika in a circle and a M right below in a circle. I have been told that the clear lens indicates it was a river boat lantern?. Thank you for any imput. Robert

Robert[/QUOTE] Good Mng Robert, welcome to the forum, have done a little research, your information would be correct, vessels over a certain length are required to display a clear masthead light at night, maybe thats the significance of the letter M. My research tells me it could have been manufactured early 40's hence the insignia. Hope this helps. Derek (Bunts)
