Hi Dave! Thank you for that information.I have read a lot of the detail before but have not seen the news report.I don't suppose you know of a source of photos of the dardenells/gallipoli campaign.I know there is a fair amount of information on the land war and the big ships but I am interested in the small ships Pinnaces,Cutters, ships boats and the later use of X-Lighters.The sort of information that usually gets brushed over as everyone gazes in wonder at a battleship. Cheers John O'C

Hi Dave. Thanks for that.A very interesting reads from the official view point. As In the last post, very little is ever said about the midshipmen who commanded the ships boats that ferried men here and there, often under fire...Regards Steve.

My Grandad was there on the "Goliath" and I have 3 photos of him on landing barges as he was supervising the landings as a PO also have 2 other pics of him in that time

Hi Wellbran! As you can see from my previours posts I would be pleased to see any photos you may have of particularly the 'small ships' invoved in the landings.Look forward to your posting them. Cheers John O'C.

Hi Tery! Thank you very much. The litle bits and pieces I am picking up from people such as youself and other contributers to WNSF are adding to my interest in Amphib/Combined Ops.Who knows I might be able to put together a coherent? history of landing craft if the site is interested in such insignificant 'boats'.However thats for the future and I won't book myself in for it just yet. Cheers john O'C.

Hi all, many thanks for detailed information on this thread. My Grandmother lost here brother during the action, he was an officer with the New Zealand forces, regret I do not have much information as to name (only know as uncle Jack) etc. Derek (Bunts)
