Small Incident in Gibraltar, Nobody Hurt

Posts 1 to 5

Well, at 12.00pm local time, the local lads had a bit of a set to with the Guardia Civil and then a few minutes later one of our jets flew around the bay (probably by complete coincidence) Not sure if this is strictly "naval" but it is certainly people with guns from organisations in countries that don't like each other on the water, so maybe "semi naval" I'll let you know if anything else happens! Hi Bob.That begs the question,is this the Spanish thinking that we are busy with the Falkland Islands at the moment, and they are trying their luck.Pretty close to the mole though!!! Regards Steve.

Mornin' Steve. No, just the Guardia Civil reminding us that they are around. They do like to flex their muscle from time to time. It gives them a chance to exercise their boats and crews. Just like on the mainland with so many Brits living there and trying to turn Spain into Little Britain [in the worst possible way] the Spanish like to remind us that Spain is their country and we are like it or not visitors. Of course, before I duck the incomings, Gibraltar is a different ballgame, but these little excercises have always been there and will carry on I'm sure. Dave H

After two years in Rooke, April 1st 1963 to April 1965, we set off to drive home, at the La Linea border, we had to wait seven hours, as they only let one car an hour through.

Believe me Barry that ain't changed one bit. Last trip down - straight in - two hours out 'an I was driving on a Spanish plate, resident in Spain. Race, Colour and Creed don't matter - We are Spanish and will do it our way. Left car park further North - First Gear - Guardia waved us down - Senor, you were speeding - sorry mate just out of Car Park , First Gear - 15 kph at most - No, senor 50 kph - You are joking, show me on Speed Machine - We use our eyes Senor, 50 kph - 70 euros later - Gracias Senor Beunos Dias. Moral - 2 Rules ---- 1. You can't win 2. Don't try. Dave H
