Dorupantos. Although an interesting theme nearly all of these pictures have already been shown in other galleries. If possible could you use our search facility to check whether a picture has been shown before uploading. Our server struggles with the total amount of pictures it has to deal with so we have to stop duplications whenever possible.

I think that everyone can put them pictures in ships who made history .

Anyone know what ship was used in the film Potemkin?
Anyone know what ship was used in the film Potemkin?
Battleship "Potemkin" at the time of the shooting of the film was written off, preparing for recovery and is in poor condition. Instead, he starred in the film was in the port of Odessa battleship "Twelve Apostles." By this time it was turned into a warehouse of floating mines, which hampered the shooting. The scenes that took place in the inner rooms, filmed on the cruiser "Comintern".

What about the little Sammy B, Johnston, Hoel, Heerman, and the others that withstood the cream of the Imperial Japanese Navy?

Thanks, Borys. Very interesting.

Hi All Any list of ships that made history must include HMS Warrior. the worlds first steam powered iron hulled armour plated warships. Built 1859-61 in response to the French Gloire. She and her sister ship Black Prince probably changed warship construction forever. Mitch Hinde

I am most surprised that we haven't included Lord Nelson's flagship HMS VICTORY! Lest we forget...
I am most surprised that we haven't included Lord Nelson's flagship HMS VICTORY! Lest we forget...
She has her own thread http://www.worldnavalships.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1792&highlight=Victory Jim

These are all mighty ships but what about the smaller ones such as HMS Pickle that brought home the news of Trafalgar. The journey of HMS Pickle and the bearing of the news from Trafalgar is commemorated by Warrant Officers of the Royal Navy on November 5th, known as Pickle Night, in a similar celebration to that of Trafalgar Night celebrated by Commissioned Officers.

True, but I don't think there will be any photos of HMS Pickle for inclusion in this gallery. Jim

Hi All Without any shadow of a doubt one of the most important ships ever built has to be TURBINIA the worlds first steam turbine powered vessel at the time easily the fastest ship in the world. The rest as they say is history. Mitch Hinde

I remember those old adverts for Parsons, featuring an image of Turbinia, that were in original Jane's editions. I was just a young kid in grade (primary) school when I first saw it, and those books helped pique my interest in British warships, as well as the Royal Navy's influence in the 20th century "world picture". Just reminiscing....
A couple of photos of Turbinia taken yesterday during a visit to the Discovery Museum at Newcastle Jim
Jim , Please see my PM Dave H

Was going to post a photo of the first submarine to sink an enemy ship - CSS HUNLEY, but as I found it on the Internet and shows her being restored, not sure how I stood copyright wise, so deleted it.

Two of my candidates Ernest Shackleton's James Caird, and Captain Bligh and Bounty's Long boat. Let's not forget it was the crews that made the vessels famous. Jim

Some more images of Turbinia.
