21st 23rd 24th Escort Squadrons Info Please

I am looking for Information on the ships that made up these Squadrons 62/64 and perhaps the more knowledgable of the company can help. look forward to the replies. Cheers.

Al, I know that this info maybe a bit late but I am a newcomer. I served on HMS Zest type 15 frigate out in Singers 64-65 - 24th Escort Sqadron and I am sure that HMS Ajax - Leander Class Frigate, was squadron leader. We sailed home late 65 and got to Guz just before Christmas.

Al - I was in AJAX, Leader 24th ES in 1965..............Squadron was (I think), AJAX, LINCOLN, BARROSA, ZEST & LOCH FADA (maybe at some time EURYALUS, but 24th ES was scrapped in 1966 and we became Capt.D2 so get mixed up with ships in the squadron then to those in the earlier 24ES).

HMS Lowestoft was part of the 23ES from June 1963 - July 1966 when the squadron was disbanded. Squadron Leader was HMS Rhyl (Captain J.A. Templeton-Cotill) later CO of Bulwark and FO Malta.

I joined Rhyl in June of 1966, she was still Captain "D" of the 23rd Escort Squadron but commanded by Captain D.W.Napper, MBE, RN. Later HM Ships Rhyl, Lowestoft and the destroyer HMS Dainty were designated as the Mediterranean Squadron and sailed to the Med the day after Navy Days in 1966.
