'Boussel' French Merch. Navy Ship info.

Posts 1 to 3

HI, Would anyone have any information on a Liberated French Merchant Navy Ship 'Boussel' which I am told took part in the D-Day landings in ww2 later served as a Troop/Munitions Transport in the South Pacific. She was scrapped in Melbourne Australia during 2008. That is all I know about her. thankyou,

"Boussel" or "Broussel"? The former name has a connection to D Day well known among those interested in the Normandy invasions in that Patrice Boussel wrote a book about the D Day beaches. The name "Broussel" is however far better known in France. It was the arrest of the popular politician Pierre Broussel in 1648 that sparked the civil war known as the "Fronde".

Thankyou Armiger, I'm sure the name of the ship was 'BOUSSEL'. I was given 3 of the gauges from her engine room to mount for display, by the people who scrapped her. so I am sure I have it right. It would be great to have more info to display with the gauges .
