HMS EAGLE odd plastic model

Posts 1 to 3

I found this model of an aircraft carrier many years ago, just by looking on this great web site, I found it to be HMS EAGLE, because of the Letter " J ", on flight deck, my question to all of you is what is it ?, no makers names, what was it used for ?, inside there are smaller models, a destroyer , and submarines , etc, has any member got the same ?, I await your reply's with interest. its 9 inches long.. regards ian

If it was smaller I'd say Free with Cornflakes! But sorry can't help you. Jim

Looking at the first image coffmanb17, I would hazard a guess that the letters "J" were stuck on after receipt, they appear well out of scale. None of the other models have any transfers. It is possible that the models in question were bought as a "battlegroup" and were all inclusive. As HMS EAGLE (??) features as flagship, it makes me wonder if the models were designed to coincide with the launch of the boys comic, EAGLE (of Dan Dare fame). I am, of course, much too young to remember the launch of the mentioned comic, but at least it gives some direction to solving your question.;) Sandy.
