New Release- Trumpeter 1/200 HMS Nelson

Posts 1 to 6

I understand this kit will be released in March 2015 with a suggested retail price of $399.95 (US). An unusual choice for so expensive a kit. What do you think? Derek

Derek, Yes but then the company must think that there will be a demand for it at the "guesstimated" price or it would not "float" it. Looks like about £150+ to me and that may include it being a motorised kit. If not then someone will soon have a go at making it that way. I am not a kit man but I believe that Trumpeter have a good reputation for quality. GK

Hi GK, Trumpeter are excellent kits, but never seen a motorised one out of the box. Some websites are already discounting them $100-150 US pre-order. Derek

I make $400 US dollars as £255. Be that as it may, a US website is offering it at $269 which is a more reasonable £172-ish.. Anyway IIRC, Trumpeter produce a 1:200 Bismark and Arizona. While the price appears a bit eye-watering, they've made an attempt the provide everything you'd want to produce a museum-quality model such as sheets of etched brass for fittings, turned metal masts & gun barrels, a lazer-cut wooden deck and some kits include white metal anchors and propellors. They've even provided etched fittings for the interior to Bismarks Arado float plane ... actually the plane and the ships boats will probably become decent little models in their own right. p.s. I've just seen mentioned that a 1:200 Iowa and Hood are planned.

TCC, 1. I know, repeat know, that what you think, is incorrect. 2. Please define the term "museum-quality." 3. "BISMARCK" please. GK

Hannants now have this kit listed. Derek http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/index.php?product_category_id=&product_division_id=&manufacturer_id=&code=&product_type_id=&scale_id=&keyword_search=hms+nelson&setPerPage=25¤cy_id=
