I don't mean to annoy or upset anyone with this question but felt I had to ask in case anyone has a solution. Is it not possible to have a section for WW1 ships and a section for WW2 or others (selfish question) having trawled through many ships photos looking for those involved in WW1 to hopefully illustrate my research on our local WW1 Commonwealth Graves - all Navy. I find most of the ships here are WW2 and later but a lot are repeated. I know many were involved in both wars but often changed in appearance due to modifications. Having said that, I have found some photos to help me, and am grateful for that, also having help from a lovely Jim. So am very grateful for this wonderful forum! I noted comments re people taking and never giving. I am unable to contribute ships photos unless you would like modern day ones (not what the site is about) as I live near Rosyth, in fact I watch the ships pass my window! I have however contributed photos, a couple of years ago when I was researching my Fathers Naval War History, in the Arctic Convoys, so don't feel so bad about it! Sorry if this is in the wrong place but sometimes it is hard to know where to put something!

Hello Jupiter Generally, within the photo gallery, ships are posted in Classes, Types or by name. With over 180 threads, it is inevitable that some photos are duplicated. Many of those threads contain hundreds of photos. To sub divide them into WW1 and WW2 ships would be virtually impossible, without losing the structure and continuity of the existing threads, ie to weed out several ship photos from one thread, to place it into another would probably mean that a post which say, refers to the photo in post #156, would no longer be relevant if post #156 was moved, as #157 would then become #156. We have asked that, when members are posting a photograph, that the text in their post mentions the name of the ship that they are posting a photo of, so that it can be found by our search facility. As you rightly say, many ships saw service in both wars so, to have a WW1 and WW2 section would possibly lead to the same photo being posted in both sections. If you are looking for photos of a particular ship, the only thing that I can suggest is that you use the search facility, to search on that name (without the prefix HMS, USS, etc) and then look through the results. Hope this helps. Jim
