While digging out info for another thread, I came across some old photos that I took a few years ago at Queen's Park boating pond, Glasgow. Modellers meet there regularly and I came across a model of my old ship, Intrepid. I'm not a modeller, but it seemed to me to be a very fine model, so I thought it might be of interest to some. Regards, Alan.

I would agree gentlemen. She looks splendid indeed. I think this may be an excellent Fleetscale kit in 1:72 scale. I can just imagine the hours of dedication put into it. Sandy.

When I took the above photos, I also took a lot more of other models at the same time. I've found these so I'll attach what I have that seem worthwhile. As I explained earlier, I am not a modeller, but I can certainly admire the craftsmanship that has gone into their making. I will require a couple more posts to attach the photos. I trust that is not excessive. Alan

What an incredible collection of models! Many thanks for posting them for us all to enjoy Alan.
What an incredible collection of models! Many thanks for posting them for us all to enjoy Alan.
You are welcome Tim. Although I suspect of little use to you in Canada Tim, for those living close enough to Glasgow, the venue is Queen's Park and I think it is Saturday afternoons that the club comes to life with this large collection, and as you might imagine, the modellers are very happy to talk about their models. I spent a very pleasant afternoon there. Alan.

Alan: Your photographs canvas a varied collection of models. It is amazing to see so many different classes of ships attracting the attention of the modellers. Brian

Good to see HMCS Snowberry amongst the collection.
Alan: Your photographs canvas a varied collection of models. It is amazing to see so many different classes of ships attracting the attention of the modellers. Brian
I'm guessing that the wide interest in ship modelling comes from Glasgow's shipbuilding past, when a trip down the Clyde in the 50s meant seeing mile after mile of shipyards on either side. There is also a huge number of ship models in Glasgow's transport museum, I'll attach a few of them, but unfortunately they are in glass cases and they don't photograph so well. Some of the larger shipyards had their own modelling department, so I would think these models may well have come from that source. I'd be interested if anyone can elaborate on that. These photos were taken in the old museum near the Kelvin Hall, which was quite vast, but a couple years ago, the exhibits were moved to a new site, the "Riverside Museum" http://www.glasgowlife.org.uk/museums/our-museums/riverside-museum/Pages/default.aspx A smaller site with the exhibits crammed in too close to be able to appreciate fully, in my opinion. Sorry to sneak in a couple marine engines! Alan.
