Dalriada Models

Posts 1 to 13

This guy has sent me a load of photos, of model ships to my Facebook account, they look awesome but are pricey. He can reproduce any ship. Moderator note it looks like a commercial plug to me, so I have removed the contact details, particularly in the light of the next post. Jim

buyer beware... this guy does not answer e mails telephone calls or texts or messages from his site... am skeptical that its real. BE WARE !!!!

I have just found this thread. I was told about Christmas time that a model I had recently completed as HMS Aisne (after her conversion to a radar picket) had been featured on Dalriada's facebook page along with two other ships belonging to friends of mine - The photos have been "borrowed" from places like Mayhem and are purporting to be made by him - So don't be fooled by the apparent quality of the work it does not appear to be his efforts Geoff

Oh how I wished that this person had e-mailed me concerning his work. I believe he (or she) deserves the OBE. (Other Bugger's Efforts). They all get sussed in the end .......... Sandy.

Sandy - There are two ways for me to look at this - very hacked off because he is using my model and him purporting to be the builder, or a bit chuffed that he thought my model was good enough to go onto his facebook as a professional build (it was only the 2nd model I had completed. Geoff

Wholewheartedly agree Geoff, I have seen (and commented on) your excellent model on another website. I know how much you put into that model, and how many medical restrictions you had to overcome at the time of the build. That's what annoys me most about this form of plagiarism. And the right thing to do is to accept it as a form of backhanded compliment. So well done on both counts.;) Sandy.

Well said lads , and heartily agree lets hope someone asks to see the model he purports to own .....and not just a superimposed photograph eh
Well said lads , and heartily agree lets hope someone asks to see the model he purports to own .....and not just a superimposed photograph eh
OK, Gents, Let's just stop this crap now - I have known Alan Paxton for just over 20 years and him and his Dad, were the best model shipbuilders in the Glasgow area and started up the Glasgow Richmond Model Club. I also am a model Warship builder and "OUR" Dalriada work is of Exhibition Standard, The reason that the photos were put on the FB pages were some of our friends across the pond wanted to see what the ship types were like, and as a consequence we then trawled the webb for pictures, and inserted them, at NO TIME have we stated that these were models built by us at any stage !!! Stop the clat-trap !!!. Yours Aye Jack Russell Ex CPO(OPS)(M).

ALSO, Have a look here !!! https://www.facebook.com/groups/dalriada.model.warships/?fref=ts. Yours Aye Jack.

Sorry Jack, still not convinced.:D ANYBODY who resorts to trawling the web to support their expertise obviously hasn't much of a portfolio to exhibit. Unless of course they didn't have the ability or finesse to operate a digital camera from time to time. I admire your loyalty, but the very fact that they chose to advertise somebody's labour of love, (ie Geoff's HMS AISNE apparently without express permission) even to illustrate what a particular model looked like appears underhand. Wasn't it possible to use a photograph of the REAL vessel?????????? Plenty of images available on several websites. Sandy barclay. ex Chief Stoker and familiar with all forms of b**lsh*t.:D;)

Well put Sandy , could not have said it better myself Ivor Grant ...another modeler on this Forum where integrity stills exists

Thanks, You beat me to it Sandy Geoff
