New Posts and Safari

Posts 1 to 13

When I click on the New Posts tab in the bar above when I am using safari on my ipad it always returns the message no posts found even when I have not visited for a number of days and there should be a couple of days worth!

I'll take a look - I have fixed a few issues on our other sites after discovering some features were not working when viewed with our ipad. The problem you've discovered is probably something similar. Whether I can fix it or not is a different matter, as it will involve meddling in the core forum software which, unlike our other sites, I didn't write the code for. Let me know if you find anything else that doesn't work quite right on ipad.

Thank you for that Kc. I will let you know if I find anything else. This website is the only one where I have this problem

I had a similar problem when firstly trying Google Chrome and then the new Explorer - each time the New Posts facility vanished and I had to return to previous settings as I found the New Posts facility too useful to be lost.  I know that other members have found similar problems when trying new browsers or versions of explorer as thay have contacted me by PM - and each time like me they had to resort to changing back their settings in order to keep New Posts. :(

Sorry Linton I was referring to the similar problems experienced on PC's and laptops rather than on ipads!

It's almost certainly the forum software that needs to be updated / upgraded to deal with the new browsers like Chrome and Opera that have been introduced since the forum was launched. I wouldn't recommend changing any settings on your own browser to make the forum work unless you are happy to do so. I'll get round to updating the software eventually, but there will be limitations without purchasing a new subscription from the software company, and that's expensive.

Kc at least this board in its current format allows me to post from an ipad, some of the sites I visit will not let me post anything.

I am pleased to say that the search is working on the ipad again.
I am pleased to say that the search is working on the ipad again.
On no it is not working again.

im toying with the idea of getting an i-pad and just wondered if we could have an update on how the i-pad works on the forum now Nigel

I have noted the same problem on my computer at work, which is military-owned and has security protocols attached to internet explorer, which is no doubt the source of the problem there. I have Google Chrome, IE and Firefox on my home computer, and, after a glitch a few months ago with IE that resolved itself, all three now work just fine to pull up the new posts section.

I don't know if it's of any interest, but I have an iMAC, and use Firefox as my browser. I don't appear to have any of the above problems. Steve
