Airbrush Recommendation?

Posts 1 to 5

Anyone use airbrushes? I'm looking for a useful all-rounder gun that won't break the bank as I think I'll only use it to finish this model. That said, I want one that can adjust the spray down to small areas. I'll run it off the cans of air. It's basically for the bridge platforms. The floors and walls are different colours and that means a brush needs to be used. Brush = untidy paint. Beyond that, I don't know what I need.

The airbrush I`m using at the moment is the Atzec Workhorse, its a single action airbrush but with various nozzles can be made to spray reasonably fine.Mine cost £50 from Hobbycraft, and having used many other much more expensive airbrushes in the past I can say this Workhorse is one of the best I`ve used. Cheers Phil

Phil, 'single action'? That means that you have control of the amount of airflow? Having had a quick look around at an airbrush primer, I think I'd want a double action 'internal' jobbie. Gravity feed or suction? I'm looking for advice. I'd like it to be quick to clean between colour or after use, so are those metal gravity feed cups the thing I'm looking for? I have at the mo a £6 external feed thingy. It's OKay for what it is but it's just a substitute for a brush for big areas, there's no finesse about it. What do you think of this Phil? Wow! Thats a bargain. You seem to get TWO airbrushes for that price, and a compresser. If its kosher, go for it. Cheers Phil

Hi there TCC, Airbrush looks like mine and if it is you should do very well with it ...even a choice of Air Brushes ......get it before its gone mate If I may add a user preference , I now use Humbrol Acrylic paint which you wash the air brush out with water , not spirit cleaner ....so its cheaper to use and clean. On the subject of cleaning I would recommend you laminate the exploded view of the Air Brush construction as they are a little fiddly to clean properly ..but worth it ....and if laminated you will keep it intact :D Learn how it fits together and clean the jets thoroughly and you will wonder how you ever managed without it :)
