The 354-ft,three-masted Russian Sailing ship The "PALLADA" used to train Russian Naval Cadets will visit Kodiak,Alaska later this month (July 2011). The visit will commemorate both the 50th Anniversary of the first manned Space Flight by Yuri Gagarin and the 270th Anniversary of the first contact by Russians with Alaskan natives. The ship will open for visitors on July 21/22 and on July 23rd the crew will host a film showing of "Discovery of Russian America" an English language Russian look at a piece of American history. Kodiak residents were this week preparing to welcome the :Pallada" and it's complement of 102 Cadets. The ship's itinerary also includes,Tokyo,Los Angeles and San Francisco.
