Great picture, before I joined her, I bet it was a memorable visit.

Those of you that served on board HMS Tiger may not know that one of her boats the 5670 a 36ft Motor Pinnace still survives and currently is being repaired on the IOW. Her owner has asked me to research her history. I do not have exacts dates of when HMS Tiger sailed to and from Devonport on her 1st Commission when this boat was onboard. Can anyone help me this history. I am also tracing the histories of the 16 other boats that were allocated to HMS Tiger. This mentioning of the boats painted "Tawny" is very interesting. Has anyone a picture of such boats. The boat on completion of its repair will be named TIGER. Thanks Tony

Re above post, HMS Tiger’s appearances at Devonport during her first few years were as follows: 31/10/1960 until 29/05/1961 (5wharf/5basin/9dock) 05/06/1961 until 03/07/1961 (5wharf/5basin) 21/07/1961 until 28/07/1961 (5wharf) 03/08/1961 until 14/08/1961 (5wharf) 18/12/1961 until 22/01/1962 (5wharf) 20/02/1962 until 23/03/1962 (5wharf/8dock) Regards….Paul

Paul, thank you for these dates. These help, however I was really after the dates she sailed for the Far East and returned etc. These dates away can determine when the boats were aboard. This is up to when she returned to Devonport to enter for conversion. Much appreciated for this information. Regards Tony.

Tony2016 Re: Your Post 356 Spoiler Alert! Methinks that the Moderator is referring to a "Mishap" that only those who were onboard HMS TIGER at the time may remember. Sounds to me as though some of her boats got "re-painted" with FFO when a hose mis-behaved itself and sprayed them! Of such remarks are mis-understandings made. Regards, GK

There were several incidents when fuelling at sea. I remember one such time when the Senior Engineer's cabin was given a new deck coating, black, thick & slippery.
