hello CYLLA: This is my first crossing the line certificate. It was on HMCS Saskatchewan in 1968. I’m sure the picture of Hong Kong will look familiar to you. I bought it from the chap who painted it and it has always had a prominent place on the wall in my den.
Mattalot: Was very interested to note that the first of your images shows a crest/badge stating "Royal Canadian Navy Far East Cruise", and the second image shows a date of May 13th, 1968. As the RCN ceased to exist as of February 1st, 1968, and became Maritime Command, obviously someone was being nostalgic even then!

My Father's Implacable certificate - 25th April 1945. It looks as if it was issued after the event, as the left hand sidebar shows Manus, Leyte & Vancouver - which I don't think were visited until after VJ day (Aug 45). From the longitude (87E) it would be about 500 miles out from Trincomolee, en route to Sydney (arriving 8 May 1945) Pete.

With deference to Dave in post #76, our Service Documents were our 'Docs' which were handed to us upon release, but our 'comic cuts' were on form S264 which was your Divisional Officers comments that unless you were a very good oppo of the Engineers Writer you would never get to see. Regards, Bert.

Oh dunno Bert, we Office Writers were open to seduction by the magic words "Come Round" and "Have a wet" :D:D Ex Gunnery/Routine Office Writer

Morning Scurs, and I should have qualified my remark by saying that as a stoker it would have been the Engineers Writer but that other branches would have had to chummy up to their respective numbers. Being suitably admonished with regards, Bert.

I was WEO Writer and never saw them. He kept them in his safe in his cabin:( Jim

The only time I ever saw mine, was on the Blake when C.W. was the writer, they were just kept in a locked desk drawer, and it gave me quite a kick. As the remarks were supposedly totally confidential, for D.O.s and above, they didn't pull any punches. Up until then I'd never thought of myself as a disruptive influence, Jack the Lad sounds much less anti-social. Regards, Bert.
