5th January 1939 - Laid down 5th January 1939 - Laid down at Hawthorn Leslie (Hebburn) 20th March 1940 - Sailed Alexandria on "Operation save Malta" 27th March 1940 - Pennant Number 33 27th March 1940 - Launched 5th December 1941 - Commissioned 5th December 1941 - Commissioned 13th June 1942 - Sailed from Alexandria to join Convoy MW11 which had sailed earlier from Egypt (Operation VIGOROUS). 14th June 1942 - Met convoy and came under air attacks. Under threat of attack by U77 15th June 1942 - Under attack by German E-Boats 12th August 1942 - Bombarded Rhodes 18th November 1942 - Sailed Alexandra to provide cover for passage of Convoy MW13 to Malta. 13th December 1942 - Deployed and carried out successful attack on convoy off Tunisia. 24th April 1945 - At Scapa Flow 12th May 1945 - Arrived Malta 15th May 1945 - Sailed Malta 29th May 1945 - Sailed Malta 4th June 1945 - Sailed Malta 10th June 1945 - Arrived Alexandria 23rd September 1948 - Sailed Portland for Home Fleet Cruise 3rd December 1948 - Off West Coast of Africa 28th January 1949 - Arrived Portland to prepare for the Spring Cruise to Gibraltar 4th February 1949 - Arrived Gibraltar 7th March 1949 - Commenced combined exercises otf Gibraltar 9th March 1949 - Completed combined exercises off Gibraltar 15th May 1949 - Arrived Oporto 22nd May 1950 - Captain R. F.
