HMS Plucky Laid Down : 20th April 1943 Launched : 29th September 1943 Completed : 10th December 1943 Type : Minesweeper Class : Algerine Builder : Harland and Wolff Country : UK Pennants : J295, M295 Fate : 1962 B.U. at Dunston |
| 7th MSF 2nd MSF “ALGERINE” Class Fleet Minesweeper fitted with Turbine propulsion machinery ordered on 30th April 1942 from Harland and Wolff, Belfast. Laid down on 20th April 1943 at the same time as sister ships RECRUIT and RIFLEMAN she was launched on 29th September 1943 The fourth RN ship to carry this name, introduced in 1856 for a Steam Tender. sold in 1858. It was last used for a destroyer built in 1916 by Scotts at Greenock and sold in 1921. Her build was completed on 10th December 1943. This minesweeper was not “adopted” by any civil community in UK following a successful WARSHIP WEEK campaign for National Savings as her build had not been started. |
