| HMS Blake was built by Fairfield and launched on the 20th December 1945. Placed in reserve in 1963, she served as an accommodation ship for ships in refit. She underwent a major conversion between 1965 and 1969, when she became a Helicopter and Command Cruiser. Served until laid up at Chatham, January 1980. Broken Up 1982. |

17th August 1942 - Laid down 17th August 1942 - Pennant C99 20th December 1945 - Work suspended and was laid up at Gareloch 20th December 1945 - Launched 15th October 1954 - Work resumed 18th March 1961 - Completed 24th April 1961 - At Plymouth 21st February 1963 - Entered reserve 1965 - Commenced conversion into a Helicopter Cruiser at Portsmouth Dockyard 1969 - Complete conversion 1969 - Deployed to Gibraltar 23rd April 1969 - Commissioned 29th July 1969 - Celebrating the 381st Anniversary of the Defeat of the Armada 1971 - Assisted Commando Carrier Bulwark with the withdrawal from Malta 14th October 1974 - Flagship of Vice-Admiral H.C. Leach 14th October 1974 - Arrived Cape Town for exercises with the South African Navy 1977 - Attended the 1977 Silver Jubilee Fleet Review off Spithead 31st May 1978 - Sailed for Group 7 Deployment to the Western Atlantic and Pacific via the Panama Canal 1979 - Underwent a refit at Rosyth 6th December 1979 - Paid off at Portsmouth Dockyard 13th May 1980 - Arrived at Chatham and entered the Standby Squadron 25th August 1982 - Sold for breaking up to Shipbreaking (Queenborough) 29th October 1982 - Towed from Chatham for Cairnryan 7th November 1982 - Arrived Cairnryan | |||
