SS Canberra Laid Down : 23rd September 1957 Launched : 16th March 1960 Completed : 6th June 1961 Type : Civilian Class : Builder : Harland and Wolff Country : UK Pennants : Fate : Scrapped 1997. |
| Requisitioned by the Ministry of Defence for the Falklands War in 1982 for use as a Troopship. At the end of the war she was used to repatriate captured Argentinian soldiers before her return to Southampton, where she received a rapturous welcome. |
