Sergeant Arthur H. Risely trained as an Air Gunner and served through the Battle of Britain with No 600 Squadron in this capacity, he was finally selected and started his Pilot training in 1941. On August 16th 1943 his Boston was shot down during a daylight raid on France. He was awarded the D.S.O. on January 14th 1944 and during his service was also received a Mention in Dispatches.
