 Volage class iron screw corvettes.  Photos and history of the Volage class iron screw corvettes launched 1869 - 1874, including HMS Volage, HMS Active and HMS Rover.

The Volage Class Corvettes were designed by Sir Edward

Displacement: 3080 tons except HMS Rover being 3460 tons.  Speed:  HMS Active 15 knots. HMS Volage 15.3 knots and HMS Rover 14.5 Knots.   Crew 340  Armament: Six 7 inch Guns and four 64 pounder

HMS Rover 

Displacement:   3460 tons.  Speed:   14.5 Knots.   Crew 315  Armament: two 7 inch MLR and Sixteen 64 pounders.
