The French Vauquelin class destroyers
were ordered under the French navel programme of 1928-1929. the Vauquelin
class was an improved version of the Aigle Class destroyer of the previous
year. There were six ships in the class Vauquelin, Cassrad, Maille Breze,
Kersaint, Tartu, and Chevalier Paul
Displacement: 2441 tons standard and
3,140 tons full load. Speed: 36 Knotts Compliment: 230.
Armament: Five 5.5 inch guns, Four 37mm AA guns, Four 13.2mm AA Guns
and seven 21.7 inch Torpedo Tubes, also 50 mines. The AA
armament: was altered during 1940 with Cassard receiving Four 37mm and
several machine Guns.
