No 1 2nd October 1901 Used for training purposes at Fort Blockhouse. Sold for scrap in October 1913. It was while being towed to Portsmouth that she foundered and was lost, only to be rediscovered in April 1981. She was restored at Gosport Submarine Museum.
No 2 21st February 1902  Sold for scrap  and broken up in October 1913.
No 3 9th May 1902 Sold for breaking in October 1913.
No 4 23rd May 1902 Foundered on 3rd September 1921 but later was refloated and used as a target in 1914.
No 5 10th June 1902 Served with the 1st Flotilla at Fort Blockhouse until removed form the navy list in August 1912. Foundered while on tow on 8th August 1912.
A Class         View Class
A 1 9th July 1902 She was rammed and sunk by a liner called Berwick Castle. Used for target practice from 1904 and was sunk in August 1911.
A 2 15th April 1903 Wrecked in January 1920.
A3 9th March 1903 Rammed and sunk by the HMS Hazard on 2nd February 1912. Used as a target and sunk on 17th May 1912.
A 4 9th June 1903 Sunk in a collision on 16th October 1905 and was raised again before being sold for breaking in January 1920.
A 5 3rd March 1904 Sold for breaking in 1920.
A 6 3rd March 1904 Sold for breaking in 1920.
A 7 23rd January 1905 Lost after diving into mud off Whitesand Bay. Remains 135 feet down as a maritime grave
A 8 23rd January 1905 Foundered and sunk in Plymouth Sound on 8th June but was raised and repaired. Eventually stricken in July 1916 and sold for breaking in October 1920.

D 5 28th August 1911 Mined on 3rd November 1914.
D 6 23rd October 1911 Torpedoed on 26th June 1918 by U73 near Northern Ireland.

E 1 9th November 1912 Sent to the Baltic in 1914 and scuttled on 8th April 1918.

E 3 29th October 1912 Torpedoed on 18th October 1914 by U27.
E 4 5th February 1912 Sunk in a collision with E41 and though raised never served again. Scrapped in February 1922.
E 5 17th May 1912 Sunk by a mine in the North Sea on 7th March 1916.
E 6 12th November 1912 Mined on 26th December 1915.
E 7 2nd October 1913 Sunk on 5th September 1915
E 8 30th October 1913 Sent to the Baltic. Scuttled on 8th April 1918.
E9 29th November 1913 Scuttled on 8th April 1918 to avoid her falling into German hands.
E10 29th November 1913 Lost on 18th January 1915.  Recent research having found the sunken submarine appears to show that it struck by a sea mine.  Thanks to David Falconer, whose great Uncle Lt Percy Falconer was one of the officers.
E11 23rd April 1914 Sold for scrapping in March 1921.
E12 5th September 1914 Sold for scrapping in March 1921.
E13 22nd September 1914 Ran aground in Baltic and disabled by shellfire. Interned in August 1915 and returned November 1918. Sold for scrapping in December 1921.
E14 7th July 1914 Mined and sunk on 27th January 1918.
E15 23rd April 1914 Lost on 15th April 1915 after running aground and subsequently bombed and attacked by torpedoes.
E16 23rd September 1914 Mined on 22nd August 1916.
E17 16th January 1915 Wrecked on 6th January 1916.
E18 4th March 1915 Sunk on 24th May 1916 by German decoy ship KE41. She was also rammed by E4.

Nautilus 31st December 1914 Served with the 6th Flotilla at Portsmouth but was used more as a depot ship than an attack vessel. Scrapped June 1922.

Swordfish 18th March 1916 Commissioned as a tender to Dolphin under the name of S1. Her stability was not good and she was converted to a surface vessel named Swordfish in July 1917. Scrapped in July 1922.

H5 was struck in front of its Conning tower and sunk with the loss of the entire crew.  U-5  was one of the first wrecks to be given official war grave status.
