St Louis, of the Charlemagne Class
Battleships of the French Navy. St Louis was part of the first battleship
class to have twin mounted Main guns. but this was spoilt by such a low displacement
and a small beam. St Louis was built at Lorient and laid down on the
March 1895, launched 9th September 1896 and completed September 1900 took
part in the world war one Scrapped in 1933
Displacement: 11,100 tons, Speed: 18 Knots. Crew 694. Armament: Four 12 inch / 40 cal. <M 1893 -96 guns, twin mounted. Ten 5.5 inch / 45 cal. QF M1893, Eight 3.9 inch, twenty 3 pdr which was later reduced in umber, Four 1 pounder, and two 18 inch torpedo tubes,. and two torpedo Tubes AW. but these were later removed. |
