Lubeck of the Bremen Class
German Light Cruisers. Her sister ships were, SMS Hamburg, Bremen,
Berlin, Munchen, Leipzig, and SMS Danzig.
SMS Lubeck was built by
A G Vulcan at Stettin, and laid down in 1903, launched 26th march 1904 and
commissioned into the German navy on the 26th April 1905.. S.M.S Lubeck
served with the fleet until 1914 becoming a coastal defence ship
refitted in 1916 was refitted which included being re armed with Two
5.9 inch guns and size 4,.1 inch guns. plus a raked bow was fitted
removing the ram bow. In 1917 became a Submarine training school and
target ship. Stricken on the 5th November 1919 and given to Britain
as prize P on the 3 September 1920 and broken up 1922 to 1923 in
Germany.
Displacement: 3,250
tons, Speed: 23 knots. (Coal Fired) Crew 303. Armament:
Ten 4.1 inch Guns, two 18 inch Torpedo Tubes (Submerged)
guns increased in 1916 refit
