Booyniy. Russian Torpedo destroyer. of the Boiki Class.

Destroyers of this type were further development of destroyer 'Sokol' which was built by Yarrow for Russia in 1895.  Line included at least 11 units (Boykiy, Boorniy, Booyniy, Blestyashiy, Bystriy, Bezuprechniy, Bedoviy, Bofriy, Braviy, Gromkiy and Grozniy).  This line of destroyers was built in 1900 - 1904 by Nevskiy plant in Sanct Petersburg.  

Displacement (projected/in fact) 350 / 410 - 480t  Measurements - 64x6, 4x1, 8-2 metres, 2 vertical triple expansion type steam engines with 4 Yarrow type steam boilers ranked 5700IHP.  Projected speed 26 knots (in fact 26 - 27.7 knots)  Armament: 1 75mm Canais gun, 5 47mm (3-pdr) Hotchkiss guns, 1 Maxim MG, 3 15inch torpedo tubes.  Complement: 4-5 officers, 64-71 enlisted.

Booyniy took part in Tsushima battle.  She rescued men from sunk battleship Oslyabya and also rescued Admiral Rojestvenskiy staff from hardly damaged Suvorov battleship.  The next day she was scuttled by cruiser "Dmitriy Donskoy" due to damages.

Survivors of the Russian Destroyer Burni (formerly Makrel) aboard British storeship HMS Humber at Wei Hai Wei, August 13th 1904.

The destroyer was driven ashore two days earlier.
