History of the Q - Ships, Submarine Decoy Ships.  First Used in the First World War.

 Q ships were designed to mimic the lines of merchantmen in the hopes of tricking U-boats into launching ill-advised attacks.

4in Gun of HMS Hyderabad masked.

Specially Constructed Decoy Vessel.  (other names were Nicobar, Coral and SSS 966).  Used as a depot ship in North Russia, 1919.

HMS Bradford City, using the false name of Ballistan Saros. Tonnage 3683tons, Began service in October 1915 and Torpedoed in the Irish sea 16th August 1917.
