American battleship histories. American naval
battleship USS Missouri. Battleship website dedicated to the history of USS
Missouri from their launch to their participation in major wars also notice
board for naval historians & families of ex-crew of USS Missouri. Built
by the New York Navy yard and launched 29th January 1944, commissioned
into the US navy ion the 11th June 1944, serve din the Pacific theatre
only and used mainly for carrier escort, she was damaged by a kamikaze
off Okinawa 11th April 1945. and served until 1955 in the US Navy from
1948 to 1950 she was used as a training ship, recommissioned for the
Korean War, and again in 1986 and fought in the Gulf war, and stayed
in service until 13th January 1995 when she was removed from service. |
