Marseillaise French Armoured
Cruiser. The Marseillaise was built at Brest and laid down January
1900 and launched July 1901 finally completed march 1903. saw service
in World war One and Served in the Atlantic and took part in escort duty.
She was part of the Atlantic Squadron. She escorted the liner taking
President Wilson back to America. Taken off active in 1929 and
subsequently broken up.
The Gloire class armoured cruisers
were a improved version of the Gueydon Class
Armoured cruisers. with a different layout for the secondary armament
6.4 inch guns.
Displacement:
9458 tons. Speed: 21.5 knots, Compliment: 615 crew Armament:
Two 7.6 inch M1893-96 guns, Eight 6.4 -inch Quick Firing M1893 -96
guns. Six 3.9-inch Guns 18 3 pounder guns and Two 18-inch
torpedo tubes.
Served in the Atlantic and took part in escort duty.
She was part of the Atlantic Squadron. Collided with the US Liner City
of Athens in May 1918 but was repaired. Taken off active in 1922 and
subsequently broken up.
