History of  Royal Navy cruisers (heavy cruisers, light cruisers). Royal Navy cruiser website dedicated to the London Class. HMS Devonshire, HMS London, HMS Shropshire, HMS Sussex including crew and families of ex-crew members notice board for the London Class cruisers.

Displacement: 9,850 tons (Devonshire & London), 9,830 tons (Shropshire & Sussex)   Speed: 32kt    Complement: 650.   Armament: Eight 8 inch guns in pairs. Eight 4 inch anti-aircraft guns (in pairs on HMS London only) and eight 2pdr anti-aircraft guns in pairs (London had sixteen AA guns in pairs).  HMS London also had eight 0.5 inch machine guns.  Eight 21 inch torpedo tubes and 1 aircraft with London supporting 3 aircraft.

HMS Devonshire 22nd October 1927 Sold and broken up 1954.
HMS London 14th September 1927 Sold and broken up 1950.
HMS Shropshire 5th July 1928 Transferred to Australian Navy in 1943 to replace Canberra. Sold and broken up 1955.
HMS Sussex 22nd February 1928 Sold and broken up1950.

L. S. HAYDEN REDVERS MARTIN.. I would like any information on my uncle Hayden R Martin.  He was in Glasgow in 1940 when the Sussex was damaged in the Clydebank Blitz.  There was no contact after my father's death in 1950.  Contact Here 

HMS DEVONSHIRE

LEWIS TEAGLE..  My father served on the Devonshire during WWII.  His name was Lewis Teagle born 1916 Leicestershire rank C1 Stoker.  He was in action in Algiers, bone, Pantellirmea, Sicily, Sylerno.  He also served on the HMS Wheatland.  Should you have any info, please Contact here
