Leberecht Maass class 1934 Type  16  Destroyers, Leberecht Maas Z1, Georg Thiele (Z2) Max Schultz (Z3) Richard Beitzen (Z4)  Paul Jacobi (Z5) Paul Jacobi (Z5)  Theodor Riedel (Z6)  Hermann Schoemann (Z7) Bruno Heinemann (Z8)  Wolfgang Zenker (Z9) Hans Lody (Z10) Bernd von Arnim (Z11) Erich Giese (Z12) Erich Koellner (Z13) Friedrich Ihn (Z14)Erich Steinbrinck (Z15) and Friedrich Eckoldt (Z16) 

Laid down in 1934 / 1935. They were the first German Destroyers to be fitted with Quadruple mounted Torpedo Tubes.

Displacement: 2,200 tons Speed: 30 knots,  Crew 315  Range: 4,400 miles at 19 knots,  Armament: Five 5 -inch guns ,  Four 37mm AA in pairs,  Six 20mm AA guns,  Eight Torpedo Tubes.  When fitted as a minelayer they carried 60 mine..

Georg Thiele (Z2) 18th August 1935 Sunk on 13th April 1940.
Max Schultz (Z3) 30th November 1935 Sunk on 22nd February 1940.
Richard Beitzen (Z4) 30th November 1935 Given to Britain after the end of WW2.

Paul Jacobi (Z5) 24th March 1936 Given to France at the end of WW2 and served under the name of Desaix until scrapped in 1951.

Wolfgang Zenker (Z9) 27th March 1936 Sunk on 13th April 1940, raised and scrapped in 1960.

Hans Lody (Z10) 14th May 1936 Given to Britain at the end of WW2 she served as R38 until scrapped in 1949.
Bernd von Arnim (Z11) 8th July 1936 Sunk on 13th April 1940, raised and scrapped in 1962.
Erich Giese (Z12) 12th March 1927 Sunk on 13th April 1940.
Erich Koellner (Z13) 18th March 1937 Sunk on 13th April 1940.
Friedrich Ihn (Z14) 5th November 1935 Given to the USSR at the end of WW2 and served as Pospeshnyi until scrapped in the 1950s.
Erich Steinbrinck (Z15) 24th September 1936 Given to the USSR at the end of WW2 and served as Pylkij until scrapped in the early 1960s.
Friedrich Eckoldt (Z16) 21st March 1937 Sunk by HMS Sheffield on 31st December 1942.
