SMS Konig
Albert, German battleship of the Kaiser Class
battleships of the German Navy. SMS Konig Albert was
built at F Schichau at Ganzig laid down in 17th July
1910. launched on the 27th April 1912 and commissioned
into the German navy on the 31st July 1913. These were the first
German battleships with super imposed turrets and turbines.
Participated in the First major overseas of a detached division
to South America and south Africa between 1913 and 1914.
Fought at the Battle of Jutland
(this is disputed as it is said
that she was refitting at the time?) Interned at
Scapa Flow 25th November 1918 and scuttled at 1330 on 21 June
1919 and capsized and sank. Raised 31st July 1935
and scrapped at Rosyth in 1936.
