Jeanne D'Arc French Cruiser. Photos and
history of the French cruiser Jeanne D'Arc, from her launch in 1930
through to the mid 1960's.
JeanneD'arc at the time of the armistice between
the France and Germany was serving at Martinique where she was dis armed
as part ofthe agreement signed by Admiral Robert who was the governor of
Martinique and the US government. (at the same time the Carrier Bearn
and Emile Bertin were also disarmed) On June 3rd 1943 Admiral
Robert turned the ships over the the free French Government amd after
they were refitted were ready for service bring much much needed fire power.
Jeanne D'arc took part in operations off Corsica and shelled enemy
position along the Italian Riviera. She participated in ferrying French
troops from North Africa to French Riviera after the Allied landings.
After the war she became a training ship and removed from service in
1964 and scrapped in 1964
