Tone Light Cruiser.

Tone was built at the Saseno Navy Yard and launched on the 24th October 1907 and completed 15th May 1910. There was initially plans for two ships int he class but only one was passed at the  1903 fleet orders. The Tone was a third class cruiser. She was the first Japanese cruiser to have a clipper bow. she was finally stricken on the 1st April and sank as target by aircraft off Amami O-Shima

Displacement: 4113 tons.  Crew 370,  Speed: 23 Knots   Range: 7340 nm at 10 Knots.  Armament: Twp 6 inch guns, Ten 4.7 inch guns,  Four 3.1 40 calibre guns and Three 18 inch Torpedo Tubes.

Initially built as fast dispatch although they are the size as small cruisers. They became obsolete for their role with the emergence of radio communication. In 1912 they became classed as Gun Boats.  In 1927 Yodo became a survey ship and finally stricken form the navy in 1st April 1940. Mogami was stricken in 1928

Displacement:  Yodo 1250 tons, Mogami 1350 tons.  Crew: 180   Speed: 23 knots  Range: 3600nm at 10 Knots. Armament: Two 4.7 inch guns,  Four 3.1 inch guns  and one machine gun  Two 18-inch torpedo tubes.

Chikuma was built by Sasebo Navy Yard and launched 1st April 1911 and completed 17th May 1912. In 1914  Chikuma took part in the hunt for the German Von Spee. Although Stricken in 1931 her final fate is unknown

Yahagi was built at Kawasaki Kobe yard and launched on the 3rd October 1911 and completed 27th July 1912. During 1940 till 1945 the Yahagi became a training ship at Eta Jima the Japanese Naval

The Tenryu class Ligth Cruisers, Tenryu and Tatsuta were designed along the same lines of the successful Royal navy Arethusa Class Cruisers.  but a number of designs are simialr to very large destroyers. 

Tenryu was built at the Yokosuka Navy Yard and launched on the 11th March 1918 and completed on the 20th November 1919.  They were the first Japanese Ships to be fitted with the triple 21 inch Torpedo Tubes.  The Tenryu was Sunk on 18th December 1942 by the American submarine Albacore. 10nm East of Madang

Tatsuta was built at the Sasebo Navy Yard and launched on the 29th May 1918 and completed on the 31st March 1919  They were the first Japanese Ships to be fitted with the triple 21 inch Torpedo Tubes.  The Tatsuta was Sunk on 13th March 1944 by the American submarine Sandlance. 145 nm South Southwest of Yokosuka

Displacement: 3948 Tons   Crew  327  Speed: 33knots  Range 5,000 NM at 14 Knots.  Armament: Four 5.5 -inch guns Three 3.1 inch AA guns and Six 21 - inch torpedo tubes in three carrying 12 Torpedos.
