Royal Navy aircraft carriers of today HMS Invincible (R05), HMS Illustrious (R06) and HMS Ark Royal (R07). All three aircraft carriers have been modernised starting with HMS Invincible being paid off on 29th April 1986 for a refit that last 27 months. HMS Illustrious had a similar refit in 1991, both aircraft carriers with fitted with a 12degree ski ramp, extra space and support facilities for 21 aircraft.
