HMS Sirius

The photos below (frey background) have been contributed to the site by Matthew Palmer, whose grandfather Des Jones served on HMS Sirius 1942 - 1946.  A number of the photos also came from the collection of James Robinson, whose father Lesley Robinson was a crew member on Sirius.  Here is a copy of the message we received from Matthew.

My grandfather served onboard  Sirius from 1942-1946 as leading stoker. Since i have started looking in to my grandfathers past i have met a chap called Charlie Stretch who was a wireless operator on Sirius . He then put me in touch with a marine from Sirius who new my grandfather that well he broke his nose boxing. I see Charlie quite often and get emails from Pat Smith (marine) quite often as he lives in Florida. I even got an email last week from Australia from a chap called Jimmy Green who served on Sirius. There is a chap from Huddersfield as well who sent me quite a selection of pictures of his father and the crew of Sirius. His name was James Robinson and hid father name was Lesley Robinson. This was great because the pictures he sent me had my grandfather on them and the pictures i had, had his father on them. On one of the pictures my grandfather Des Jones is standing right next to Lesley.  Contact Matthew Here
