Battlecruiser histories. Royal naval battlecruisers HMS Repulse and HMS Renown. Battlecruiser website dedicated to the history of HMS Repulse and HMS Renown from their launch to their participation in major wars also notice board for families of ex-crew of HMS Repulse and HMS Renown.

HMS Repulse was built at Clydebank by John Brown, and launched on 8th January 1916 . She saw action in the First World war on the 17 November 1917 at Heligoland Bight (a sortie by British battlecruisers.). During World War Two. She operated off Norway in 1940, and on Convoy duty until the summer of 1941. Repulse joined the eastern Fleet in October 1941, arriving at Singapore on the 2nd of December, she sailed with HMS Prince of Wales and four destroyers to attack Japanese naval forces in their landing areas around Malaya. On the 10th December both the Repulse and Prince of Wales were attacked by 80 Japanese aircraft and were sunk, HMS Repulse being hit by a Torpedo and sunk at 1233 hours, after being hit by a further 4 times.

WILLIAM HALL...   My Grandfather William Hall served on HMS repulse and was a petty  officer on this ship when he married in Dec 1928 he was from west ham is he  related to YOU email me at trev2408@aol.com

NORMAN COOK..   My father now passed away, served on the Repulse as an electrician during the war but was transfered to mine sweepers before she went to Singapore (Thankfully).  Anyone that can find a crew list or knew him or any info please contact me samido@paradise.net.nz I have some crew photos amongst his stuff and they are wearing shorts, very brown in front of forward guns.He has a repulse cigarrette case, I don't know if that was issued?

ALBERT WILLIAM REYNOLDS.. I am hoping that someone, somewhere knows of my dad's time on the Repulse. Could not find him on the ships crew list. As far as I know, he was taken off Repulse before she sank. Any info contact me at eve.baker@freshfields.com 

CHARLES NESTOR HOWE.. My Grandfather Charles Howe was (I think) Leading Stoker on the Repulse during her 1924 Royal Cruise. He would have been about 30 years old at the time. Any pictures of crew etc would be interesting to see. Contact me at jeff.howe@ferrari.co.uk
