Anson. Royal Naval battleship of the Admiral
Class. HMS Anson The Anson is a steel first-class battleship of what is known as the
Admiral Class, because all of the ships are named after noted Admirals.
She was completed for sea in 1889. She was built at Pembroke Dockyard, and
engined by Messrs. Humphreys and Tennant. In 1896 to 1897 she
had her 6 -inch BL guns replaced with 6 -inch QF's and also a tall signal
mast between fore funnel and bridge
Displacement: 10,600 tons. I.H.P:
11,500. Length: 330 ft.
Beam: 68ft 6 in. Speed: 16.9
knots. Complement: 515. Max draught:
27ft 3 in. Armament: four 67 ton guns, four 6 in guns, twelve
6 pounder guns and ten 3 pounder quick-firers. Partial belt of 18 in
composite armour. |

HMS Anson of the Mediterranean Squadron
The Anson is a steel first-class battleship of what is known as the
Admiral Class, because all of the ships are named after noted Admirals.
She was completed for sea in 1889. She was built at Pembroke Dockyard, and
engined by Messrs. Humphreys and Tennant. In 1896 to 1897 she
had her 6 -inch BL guns replaced with 6 -inch QF's and also a tall signal
mast between fore funnel and bridge (see photo). she was finally
sold for breaking 13th July 1909.
