History of  Royal Navy cruisers (heavy cruisers, light cruisers). Royal Navy cruiser website featuring the Leander Class cruiser HMAS Perth including  naval Enthusiasts and families of ex-crew members notice board for the cruiser HMAS Perth.

Specifications for HMAS Perth   Built at Portsmouth Dockyard and launched 27th July 1933 and finally completed 6th July 1936.

 

Displacement: 6,980 tons   Speed: 32.5kt    Complement: 550

Armament: Eight 6 inch guns in pairs. Eight 4 inch anti-aircraft guns in pairs and twelve 0.5 inch machine guns in fours.   Eight 21 inch torpedo tubes in pairs and 1 aircraft.

 

HMAS  Perth was lost in the Sunda Straits from three torpedo hits and several shells 8 - inch and smaller. 1st March 1942
