SMS Hessen, German
pre dreadnaught battleship of the Braunschweig class. which was a
bigger, heavier guns and faster than the
Wittelsbach Class battleships, The Braunschweig class autherised
under the Naval programme of 1900. launched on the 18th September
1903 and commissioned into the German navy on the 19th September
1905. Served with the German fleet until 1916 when she became a tender
at Brunsbuttel in 1917. after world war one she was kept and
served with the Reichsmarine between 1921 and 1925. and
stricken in the 31st March 1935.Hessen which was reboilered and
converted into a radio controlled target ship after world war two
she was given to Russia and renamed Tsel.
