HMS THRASHER....
GEORGE
DAVISON... My late father (Petty Officer George Davison,
he passed away in late 1980's) served on HMS Thrasher, I would dearly like
to know if anyone has any photos of George, or any information about his
time on the ship. I have most of the war diaries from Thrashers missions
in the Med, Crete, Salonika etc. I have a couple of photos but not great
ones. I can post if required, Kind regards
Jon Davison photofly@iinet.net.au
HMS TRESPASSER.. If anyone has any photos or blueprints of HMS
Trespasser during the war please contact Ian at ianglowman@yahoo.com
HMS TROOPER.. LT L A S 'ALEC' GRANT.. I should be very grateful for
any information about HMS Trooper, especially if there are still any
crew-members around who might remember my half-brother Lt L Grant, whom I
never knew. Contact David Grant at dgrant@standsure.freeserve.co.uk
HMS TURBULENT:
GEORGE
HMS TRAVELLER
WILFRED HARRY HOOTON... Unfortunately very little was known by
members of my family about what really happened to my Uncle, the only
thing that was said was that he was not originally meant to be part of the
crew but swapped places with a friend who wanted some leave. After some
research I have now found where H.M.S Traveller was sunk and how (
probably mined ? ) But one thing is bothering me, from my
readings I understand that the British planned to attack Italian battle
ships in Taranto harbour but before any assault could be made a
reconnaissance mission was ordered as very little information was known
about the area. What was known was that the harbour was very heavily
mined. Now here I hope you may be able to help, what I can't understand is
that knowing the dangers why was such a large submarine sent into what can
only be described as a suicide mission and would the crew have known about
the extreme risks if so would they have been asked to volunteered ? Also I
understand that the ships supposedly meant to be in the Harbour were not
there anyway ? If anyone has any information please contact me at roy.hedley@virgin.net
HMS TEMPEST:
I would like to contact anyone who has information about the crew of
HMS Tempest and would dearly love a photo of the crew or a contact name
and address. I would like to preserve the information received so that it
does not die. Contact me at dave@hansonclan.co.uk
ERIC CAMPBELL..
My Great Uncle served on HMS Tempest as TGM and was
one of the few crew members who laid the charges to blow her up when they
were captured in 1942. If anyone knew him or has information or photos of
HMS Tempest please contact Dave Hansen at dave2@hansonclan.co.uk
