Psara Launched 1890 Scrapped 1929

Greek battleship Psara in 1902. She was launched in February 1900 and measured 234 ft in length with a displacement of 4,885 tons and a speed of 17 knots.

Battleship Hydra, launched in May 1889 and finally scrapped in 1929. Sister ships were the Spetsai and Psara pictured above.

The Cruiser Helle was initially being built for the Chinese Navy, to be called Fei Hung, but due to the Chinese Revolution she was offered for sale and purchased by Greece in 1914. During World war One Helle served with the French fleet between 191y6-1917 and between the wars. she was re constructed as a Cruiser Minelayer  in 1926 to 1928 by FCM La Seyne. Three new Oil Burning boiler built by yarrows were fitted,  and a Vicero fire control system also fitted. aswell as a new Bridge. All poop and rigging were removed.

Displacement: 2600 tons,.  Speed, 18 knots. Crew, 232,  Armament: Two 6 inch guns, Four 4-inch guns, two 3-inch Guns, Six  3pdr, and two 37mm Automatics, two 18-inch torpedo Tubes.

AFTER RE BUILD.  Displacement: 2115 tons,.  Speed, 20.5 knots. Crew, 232,  Armament: Three  6 inch guns, Two 4-inch guns, two 40mm AA Guns,  two 18-inch torpedo Tubes. and 110 mines

Helle 4th May 1912 Torpedoed and su8nk on the 15th August 1940 by Italian Submarine Delfino while at anchor off Tinos island before the Italian Invasion of Greece.

AETOS  CLASS DESTROYERS

Initially ordered by the Argentinean Navy and were to be named San Luis, Santa Fe, Santiago and Tucuman. but were bought by Greece in 1912. During world war one they were seized by the French navy in 1916 and  served between 1917 and 1918 with them, all except Panthir. All four were re built at White ,in Cowes, Isle of Wight. between 1924,and 1925. they were rebuilt getting rid of the very distinct with their five funnels and replacing them with two funnels. Aetos, Ireax, and Panthir all served with the Royal Navy in the Mediterranean Fleet from 1941 to 1944, becoming station ships in 1945.
